SYSTEMS ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER

HUNTSVILLE, AL

Job Description:

Provide Systems Engineering management support to enhance the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Modeling and Simulation (MS) enterprise and its federated MS projects. The Engineering Manager works with representatives of MDA organizations in the MS Community to facilitate and coordinate on MS Enterprise Engineering projects and tasks. The position provides technical and management leadership to implement established system-of-systems MS programs, enhancing integrated (System level) MS) capabilities.

Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years experience with systems engineering

  • Clearly communicates complex ideas; produces and presents clear, well-organized presentations, in relevant terms for audiences at all levels

  • Experience successfully leading matrixed, technical project teams, their projects, and tasks; as well as facilitating effective meetings

  • Skilled, using Microsoft Office products to communicate technical information

  • Exposure to MDA test-like events and activities supported by MS products and services

  • Understanding of BMDS architecture and MS used to enhance its development and implementation

  • Confident in personal interaction; enjoys negotiating solutions between stakeholder needs, technical, and schedule constraints

  • Can create a positive, collaborative working relationship with teammates stakeholders

  • Ability to lead and facilitate effective integrated product team meetings.

  • Ability to think creatively and be comfortable with analytical and out-of-the-box thinking

  • Ability to lead teams of geographically and technically diverse team of engineers with differing perspectives and roles and responsibilities

  • Demonstrated experience managing computer software and hardware projects, including responsibility for cost, schedule, and performance monitoring and control

  • Energetic, motivated, self-starting technical leader

  • Ability to propose and execute project plans that align with gov't customer strategic goals--proposing courses of action based on overarching government goals and objectives.

Desired Knowledge, Skills Abilities:

  • Formal project management training or certification, such as Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Experience in MS (constructive or distributed virtual simulation) domain

  • Experience with DoD Acquisition Management
