Minimum Clearance Required to Start:
Parsons is seeking an Electrical Engineer (EE) to support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Interceptor Product Office (THR) as an on-site technical advisor and subject matter expert for missile electronics. In this role, the successful candidate will support the THR Chief Engineer (CE) and the THR Avionics/Electronics Division Chief's on-going efforts to support interceptor production, sustainment, and redesign/replacement of several of the weapon system's major components.
Production and sustainment activities include participating in supplier weekly Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings, oversight of supplier activities, participating in Failure Review Boards (FRB), and Technical interchange meetings (TIM) and performing Technical Evaluations of proposals, plans, schedules and performance. Redesign activities include but are not limited to requirements reviews, component redesign, development, and/or analysis/selection of existing alternatives for the weapon systems batteries, communications, seeker, and guidance systems with the goal of improved weapon system producibility, performance and sustainment.
Provide the THR CE and THR Avionics/Electronics Division Chief with assigned issue resolution progress and status
Review and obtain thorough understanding of prime contractor's command media, delivered plans and procedures, and assess compliance with Government requirements and directives when requested
Assist the THR Avionics/Electronics Division Chief as needed to coordinate meetings, facilitate various types of reviews investigations and TIMs; record action items and provide executive summaries and meeting minutes
Participate and provide input to teleconferences as directed by the Government customer (e.g. weekly staff meetings, and other regularly scheduled meetings with the prime contractor and its subs)
Obtain information from the prime contractor as requested by the Government customer
Participate in selected prime contractor meetings and boards
Observe key manufacturing and test activities performed on-site or other locations in de-confliction with the THAAD Program's in-plant representative
Coordinate with functional support (Mission Assurance, Quality, Safety (QSMA), and Logistics) to support the CE requirements
Facilitate Government IPTs and functional areas (QSMA, Logistics, Program Operations) as requested
Assist with program initiatives, become the program POC at the Prime Contractor location for assigned activities
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical) and typically 5+ years of related work experience
Electrical engineering experience in the area of avionics and/or weapon system electrical systems
Understanding and application of sound engineering principles related to component design, interoperability, failure investigation, and risk mitigation
Experienced in working in a high intensity environment with minimal supervision
Travel as required to other locations (pre-COVID travel requirement up to 25% of the time)
Strong communication (oral and written)skills to include creation and presentation of briefing materials
Strong computer skills - working knowledge of MS office suite of tools.
Active Secret clearance
Prior THAAD, MDA, DOD, or aerospace industry experience
Aerospace design, manufacturing, production and/or sustainment experience
Experience working with a team of government and contract engineers, technical experts and support personnel
Previous Project Office/Program Operations experience
Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
