We need our Safety Specialists to be versatile, experienced leading teams and who have exceptional communication, analytical and management skills.
In this role, theSHE Specialist will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, and coordination of the Project Safety Plan in a staff augmentation role for the client.This position requires an effective team member who can work with and mentor project team members and foster a working environment where culturally diverse project staff can work together cooperatively to deliver the project safely and with an exceptional degree of quality.The position will represent the client in SHE matters while working closely with them and all project entities.Receive daily assignments from the client Safety Manager but functionally report to the Vice President of SHE.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
·Provide SHE oversight and guidance to construction contractors during planning and development phases of the work
·Monitor compliance of various contractor SHE and Quality programs in an oversight role through audits, inspections, and written reports
·Review Contractor SHE programs and provide comments
·Monitor Key Performance Indicatorsfor all aspects of assigned work and develop reports as required and directed
·Conduct incident investigations and review contractor hazard analyses and risk planning efforts as required
·Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as assigned by the client Safety Manager or Project Manager
·Bachelor’s degree inSafety, Environmental Sciences, or related field plus a minimum of 3 years demonstrable experience in system safety and/or construction safety or must have at least 6 years of demonstrable experience in the same
·Knowledgeof industry safety standards and their application to planning, design, and construction
·Knowledge of ISO 45001 preferred
·Strong written and oral communication skills
·Ability to interface with all stakeholders in a manner consistent with contract agreements and the applicable standards of reasonable care
·Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team with working knowledge in a government environment
·Ability to develop and provide SHE training as required
·Must be able to regularly work day/afternoon/evening and night hours including weekends and holidays on a routine basis.“On-call” on a 24/7 basis
·Mustbe able to successfully complete Railway Worker Protection Certification (RWP)
·Mustbe able to pass a government background check
·Must be able to work in confined spaces
·Must have reliable transportation and must possess a valid District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia motor vehicle operator’s license
