Job Description:

Ready to put your design skills to work on marquee infrastructure projects that will change the fabric of our community? Would you enjoy working closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design? Parsons is now hiring a Senior Highway Designer / CAD Customization Specialist for our rapidly expanding portfolio of Transportation and Infrastructure projects.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Utilizing a CAD workstation to prepare difficult and complex layout and design drawings, utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge

  • Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and other disciplines to ensure coordinated designs.

  • Satisfying layout requirements and developing alternate design layouts of systems as necessary

  • Maintaining compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications

  • Mentoring junior staff and collaborating with other senior designers as appropriate

  • CAD Tools and Add-in Development – creating tools to improve productivity and efficiency of CAD techs – including creating tools to improve the productivity in working on specific projects or working with client standards and creating custom Bentley OpenRoads workspaces as necessary

  • CAD Support and Troubleshooting – assisting CAD users with technical issues & troubleshooting issues within CAD, potentially with the development of practical work-arounds, and disseminating the information to relevant staff

  • CAD Standards Implementation & Maintenance – collaborating with a team of internal CAD users to standardize design production, drawing standard, and best practices

  • Assisting in training designers

Required Skills/Experience You’ll Bring:

  • Completed diploma, certificate, or technical degree from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent)

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in complex multidisciplinary transportation engineering projects

  • Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, InRoads and OpenRoads, as well as efficiency in utilizing computer software to complete design assignment

  • Familiarity with INDOT standards

Desired Skills/Experience You’ll Bring:

  • Significant experience on major state/area projects

  • Proven ability to train & assist in integration of software/design application

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant softwares, including: Bentley MicroStation, OpenRoads, InRoads, and Geopak

Salary Range:

$32.40 - $56.73
