Parsons is seeking to hire a Traffic Engineer I to support projects in Indiana and surrounding regions , as well as national projects on occasion. We are looking for an engineer with an affinity for simulating traffic patterns to alleviate congestion and improve safety on major road and highway transportation projects. Parsons has engineered and constructed more than 10,000 miles of roads in more than 40 countries on six continents. This role can be hired at a mid-experience up to Senior Engineer level. A hybrid remote work-based scenario with a combination of at home and office-based work is allowed for this role. Position Overview and Responsibilities:
Ready to join a team tackling infrastructure challenges? Our team is versatile and enthusiastic to work with if you enjoy a dynamic, team-oriented environment with clear communication, analytical, and task management skills. In this role, you will perform both conventional and complex traffic engineering assignments, applying your engineering judgement, and performing analyses within road and highway projects. This individual should be a fully qualified professional that can operate independently and is proficient in a variety of traffic engineering theories, practices, and software platforms. The successful candidate will perform traffic engineering assignment duties and roadway geometrics design, and will be involved in:
o Traffic Operations Analysis - Experience with Synchro, HCS and VISSIM (a plus) and their application on freeways, major roads, and local roads. In-depth knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual.
o Traffic Signal Design - Experience in the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic signal construction. Experience with Indiana Department of Transportation projects is a plus. A proficiency in MicroStation CAD software is desirable.
o Signal Timing - Experience with development and implementation of signal timings, including data collection, and programming of signal timings is a plus.
o Geometrics alignments and design supporting both state and regional DOT road & highway projects in the area
BS degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
MS degree with an emphasis in Transportation & traffic engineering is highly desirable
3 years or more of experience as a traffic/transportation engineer ; experience with hands-on traffic simulation using software programs such as Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, etc is preferred
Proficient working knowledge of, and strong hands-on experience with, major types of technical analyses (including traffic impact analyses, safety studies, signal corridor studies, capacity analyses, signal designs) is preferred
Experience with roadway systems design utilizing either Autocad Civil 3D and/or Microstation is preferred.
EIT certification is preferred
