SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER – ROAD HIGHWAY DESIGN – JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA
The Parsons Jacksonville office is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a collaborative and growing team of roadway design engineers and technicians. Typical project assignments involve performing a variety of engineering tasks in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) design procedures, standards, and specifications. The candidate must have solid experience in the utilization of the AASHTO “green book” and Microstation Geopak for the design of major roadway projects (state highway and interstate). Experience with Florida DOT projects is highly preferred.
Following applicable FDOT design standards, utilizes Microstation Geopak V8i Open Roads Technology tools for modeling and design of FDOT roadway projects.
Prepares design documentation including computations and estimates.
Assists in checking and reviewing plans and calculations in accordance with FDOT and Parsons quality assurance guidelines.
Provides input and technical guidance to CADD Designer/Drafters, and lower-level Engineers.
Assists in pursuing new work by assisting in identifying key issues and developing drawings and exhibits for technical proposals, presentations, and client interviews.
May assist in drainage design utilizing Geopak Drainage, ICPR, ASAD or HEC-RAS.
May assist with signing and pavement marking, signals, lighting, ITS and electronic tolling analysis and design.
May assist in reviewing shop drawing submittals and performing technical bid analyses.
May assist in the development of specifications and other construction documents.
4-year degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, and at least 8 years of roadway design experience utilizing AASHTO design requirements and guidelines.
PE license is highly preferred.
Solid understanding of MicroStation and GEOPAK and the engineering experience necessary to design a roadway. FDOT roadway design experience is essential.
Traffic Signals, lighting, ITS and Tolling Systems Design is a plus.
