Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Commercial Director to join our team! In this role you will get to support out client with the commercial activities of a large-scale construction project. The Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies, managing contracts and negotiations, and overseeing procurement activities to ensure the successful delivery of the project within budget and on schedule. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the construction industry, strong negotiation skills, and a proven track record of delivering commercial excellence on complex projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Play the leading and pivotal role in supporting the Client / Project executives and leaders in monitoring and controlling the performance of contracted services to ensure services are effective, meet statutory requirements and deliver the desired outcomes.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive commercial contracts management, risk management, claims resolution strategies, policies, and procedures to support the client's objectives and mitigate risks on the construction project.

  • Manage the contract lifecycle, including contract administration, compliance monitoring, and performance evaluation, to ensure adherence to contract terms and conditions, deliverables, and timelines.

  • Provide strategic guidance and expert advice to the client on commercial contracts management, claims resolution, and dispute avoidance strategies, based on industry best practices and legal standards.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive commercial strategies and plans to support the objectives of the construction project, including but not limited to cost control and risk management.

  • Provide leadership to the commercial team to ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.

  • Manage all assigned commercial aspects of the project

  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for the project.

  • Oversee the review and analyze project contracts, agreements, and proposals to identify potential risks, liabilities, and opportunities for improvement, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and optimize terms and conditions.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication, resolve issues, and ensure alignment with project requirements and specifications.

  • Monitor and analyze project financial performance, including revenue, costs, and profitability, and develop strategies to address variances and optimize project outcomes.

  • Lead contract negotiations with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure favorable terms and conditions, maximize value for money, and mitigate risks.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies to optimize material sourcing, purchasing, and delivery processes, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and supplies.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to commercial activities, contracts, procurement, and risk management.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • MRICS, RICS or equivalent

  • Minimum of 25 years of experience in commercial leadership roles in the construction industry, with minimum 5yrs+ experience in GCC (KSA experience ideally).

  • Proven track record of delivering commercial excellence on large-scale construction projects, with particular emphasis on PMO/PMC large projects.

  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, procurement processes, and risk management principles, with experience in negotiating and managing complex contracts and agreements.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis, cost estimation, and budget management, with the ability to develop accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for construction projects.

  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and objectives.
