Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team for an exciting opera house construction project! In this role you will get to play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of quantity surveying activities across various disciplines within the project and will be responsible for managing and leading a team of quantity surveyors to ensure accurate cost estimation, effective cost control, and adherence to budgetary constraints throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of quantity surveyors specializing in various disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural.

  • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring performance excellence.

  • Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates, including material, labor, and equipment costs, for the Opera House construction project.

  • Conduct thorough cost analysis and value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards.

  • Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with client requirements and financial objectives.

  • Manage contract documentation, including tender documents, contracts, and variations, in compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

  • Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions, ensuring favorable outcomes for the project and minimizing risks.

  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance with contractual agreements, addressing any issues or disputes that may arise during the project execution.

  • Provide expert advice and support to project teams on quantity surveying matters, including cost forecasting, cost control measures, and risk management strategies.

  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to assess progress, verify quantities, and identify potential cost implications or deviations from the project plan.

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to evaluate alternative solutions and mitigate cost overruns or delays.

  • Participate in project meetings, providing updates on quantity surveying activities, addressing concerns, and proposing solutions to achieve project goals.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field; professional accreditation (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent).

  • Proven experience (minimum 18 years) as a Quantity Surveyor, with a demonstrated track record of successfully leading quantity surveying teams on large-scale construction projects.

  • Strong technical knowledge of quantity surveying principles, methodologies, and best practices, with expertise in cost estimation, budget management, and contract administration.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across all levels of the organization.

  • Proficiency in relevant quantity surveying software and tools, such as CostX, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel, to facilitate accurate cost analysis and reporting.
