Take your Environmental Planning expertise to the next level working on tough projects that will make a huge impact on the community. Parsons is now hiring a fully qualified Environmental Planner with a desire to work on sustainability projects that change the fabric of our community.

Organizational Relationship :

Sustainability Lead Specialist reports directly to Manager of Urban Planning Department and to the Royal Commission Director for Urban Planning.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop City wide sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives and strategies, in collaboration with other Technical Divisions and Departments, to achieve the City’s Vision as a Smart and Sustainability City.

  • Implement and monitor sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as best practices, cost-effectiveness, and technical feasibility.

  • Champion high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes in line with the Client’s Master Plan Vision.

  • Provide technical and administrative support for sustainability programs and challenges.

  • Project and track sustainability indicators, such as likely energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling etc.

  • Research and review regulatory, technical, and market issues related to sustainability practices globally and specifically in the Middle East.

  • Advise, develope and review sustainability proposals or policies.

  • Present best practice information about sustabibility initiatives to inform senior management.

  • Develop reports/ presentations to communicate the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives.

  • Identify needed resources and partners to implement sustainability programs or projects.

  • Participate in marketing, such as brochures or websites, to communicate sustainability issues, procedures, or objectives.

  • Develop grant applications or project proposals to secure funding for sustainability projects.

  • Identify, modify or create new sustainability indicators suitable for JCPDI.

  • Champion the coordination and delivery of environmental initiatives being undertaken by Departments in Technical Affairs.

  • Provide technical planning advice including the development of Environmental management processes, procedures & guidelines suitable for key sustainability projects.

  • Meet with stakeholders and regulators and obtain statutory approvals for environment components of projects.

  • Deliver Sustainability assessment across of range of topics and initiatives providing clear, well written reports.

  • Competently undertake own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others.

  • Able to manage clients' needs and present well developed ideas in a confident, professional manner.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of related work experience, preferably with a minimum of 3 years in the Middle East region.

  • Masters degree in Environmental Planning or related discipline preferable.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning or related field from a recognized western university,

  • LEED Certification or equivalent.

  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate both orally and in writing

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Adobe Professional, office automation products, and creating and manipulating environmental databases
