Job Description:

We celebrate 75 years of supporting global initiatives in infrastructure, water, energy, power, renewables, environmental, healthcare, education, and communications. Parsons is looking to hire a full-time Sr. System Administrator to work in our La Palma, CA. office. In this role, you will be continuously driven to improve processes for improved performance. Develop a strategy and create metrics to measure the effectiveness of the strategy. Performs application monitoring and performance tuning. Perform operating system software updates, upgrades, and patches. Performs administration activities such as setting user accounts, roles, access, and privileges

IT SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR TASKS

  • The building, configuring, patching, upgrading, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual Linux servers (rack mounts/blades, and VMs)

  • The building, configuring, patching, upgrading, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual Windows servers (rack mounts/blades, and VMs)

  • Taking care of backup, off-site tape storage, inventory-asset management

  • Design, Deployment, and Management of complex application infrastructures

  • Ability to manage and support database deployments and operations. (monitoring, backup, restore, cluster/replication configuration)

  • Investigating, resolving and closing user reported problems and application issues through our ticketing system

  • Supporting users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice

  • Installing, configuring and deploying new PCs & Servers

  • Providing a high level of customer service at all times

  • Monitor server event logs, performance logs, growth of data on the network, and checking the status of nightly server backups

  • Ensures compliance with uptime and performance standards and develops system and product benchmarking and monitoring

  • Provide detailed project status reporting as directed by management

  • Performs day-to-day maintenance and installation of the server, network equipment, virtual machines, messaging, backups and storage

  • Work on moderately complex assignments, using judgment to resolve problems and make routine recommendations

  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24 X 7 production support

  • Develop and maintain detailed maintenance and contingency plans and documentation for server infrastructure

  • Configure system monitors and alerts using common network monitor applications

  • Create scripts to manage and monitor applications and systems.

  • Ability to design technical solutions and provide specifications and pricing for equipment and COTS software, that meet project requirements.

Qualifications

  • Associate level certification or higher from cisco, Juniper, or Palo-Alto

Desirable certifications

  • security +, CLOUD +, AWS, or azure certification

  • Microsoft MTA in network, security, or administration fundamentals

  • Linux Foundation certification
