Job Description:

Parsons is now hiring for a Engineering Document Review Technician to suuport our team supporting Southern Nevada Water Authority. This position is focused on reviewing and updating specifications, standard operating procedures and engineering design standards that will be commonly used on major capital projects in Southern Nevada.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

  • Initial focus will be updating specifications, standard operating procedures and engineering design standards that will be commonly used on major capital projects in southern Nevada.

  • Develops technical documentation to support the research, design, and testing of proprietary system engineering products. Gathers relevant data by researching existing documents, as well as interviewing SMEs (subject matter experts), for the production of deliverable documents (design guides, user guides, proposals, and test plans).

  • Ensures that completed documents conform to required formats, standards, and style guidelines, and provides original writing as needed. May be required to interface with a variety of authors/requestors, both internal and external.

  • In collaboration with project staff, documents design specifications. Ensures documentation is consistent with customer requirements. Reviews design documentation to ensure that it can be readily understood by audiences of varying technical levels.

  • Proofreads and performs difficult and/or complex writing and editorial functions, including formatting and stylesheet verification, copy editing, rewriting, revising, writing, proofreading, and production planning.

  • Ensures compliance of all assigned documents with their required presentation, correct use of paragraph headings and numbering, referencing of illustrative and tabular matter, and applicable bibliographic styles.

  • Ensures consistency in application of technical abbreviations and acronyms, figure and table callouts and captions, and handling of boilerplate materials.

  • Compiles and verifies tables of content, lists of figures and tables, references, and printer’s dummy. Marks copy to provide word processors and graphic designers with clear, legible instructions relating to spacing, indentation, and changes or corrections.

  • Conducts research in the preparation of copywriting assignments and verification of acronyms, terms, etc.

  • Works directly with authors/requestors to review copy, illustrations, and other materials submitted for inclusion in assigned documents. Recommends improvements for accuracy of expression, project or company style, clarity, consistency, and grammatical construction. Recasts or writes new portions of text subject to the review and approval of the requestor. Ensures, when applicable, that text references are consistent and comply with client requirements.

  • Coordinates both the scheduling and production of deliverables by working with lead technical writers/editors, authors/requestors, and required technical publications resources. May also

  • interface with various personnel assigned to a specific project or client effort as required. Reviews and verifies materials after reproduction to ensure conformance to the printer’s dummy.

  • Serves as part of a functional team and can work independently to complete assignments according to scheduled deadlines.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.

WHAT REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:

  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 8-10 years of related work experience. Professional Engineer registration may be required

  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to Nevada for this position.

  • Must have strong technical writing skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational, research, and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Experience using master specifications, writing, and editing vertical and horizontal construction specifications.

  • Must be able to understand the technical requirements and use the specific vendor technology and engage the expertise of SMEs to create contract required documentation that describes the product’s design, testing, and use.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office software for production of documents.

WHAT DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING:

  • CSI Construction Document Technician (CDT) certification is preferred, but not required.

  • Working knowledge of Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) construction document principles including application of CSI Section Format.

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and clarity in conformance with required formats and standards.

  • Major Water infrastructure experience

  • Experience with e-Builder

  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision.

  • Incumbent should also possess a working knowledge of scheduling and related processes.

  • Experience with writing and editing technical specifications for public agencies.

  • Experience working with multi-discipline team to develop required specifications.

Salary Range:

$68,400.00 - $142,600.00
