Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented GIS Specialist - QA to join our team in London. Parsons is providing Project Management Consultancy (PMC) services for the development of NEOM Infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project is a planned cross-border city in the Tabuk Province of north-western Saudi Arabia. The site is near the Red Sea and the borders of Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. It will cover a total area of 26,500 km2 (10,200 sq mi) and will extend 460 km along the coast of the Red Sea.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Development of GIS Quality Control / Quality Assurance plans, procedures, and workflows to ensure compliance with international GIS standards (IAW ISO Standard Series 19100), to include GIS metadata requirements.

  • Design and conduct GIS quality control testing.

  • Design and create quality control feedback mechanisms, reports, documentation to support teams addressing data quality issues.

  • Creation of Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) for GIS data layers.

  • Development of automated quality control checking scripts to report on data quality.

  • Quality review of data integration workflows such as CAD/BIM data to GIS.

  • Ensure GIS Team, Digital Workstream Teams and other Project Stakeholders are aware, informed and trained in applying GIS QA/QC procedures in their work.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Geography, Planning, Engineering, Computer Science or related curriculum (or equivalent)

  • Prior years of related experience

  • Proficiency in GIS software applications and programming is required. Also requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills and a working knowledge of industry practices. In addition, the incumbent must possess the following specific skills and competencies:

  • Well-developed skills with one or more GIS packages including scripting, programming, modelling, and designing.

  • Ability to design and maintain GIS databases and other database formats such as Microsoft Access, dBase, etc.

  • Proficiency in cartography and map design, including coordinating systems, projections, and map scales.

  • Ability to utilize, convert and incorporate various types of data into GIS. Examples of this data include Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD), Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and database files.

  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Visual Basic, Python, HTML, AML, EML, Cold Fusion, C#

  • Systems automation skills (e.g., UNIX scripts, NT batch scripts, Linux scripts)

  • Systems and peripheral troubleshooting skills

  • Ability to independently assess data anomalies, software problems, and program design flaws, and take appropriate steps to make the project work.

  • Ability to ascertain hardware/software limitations, how to work within them, and what can be done when limits are reached.

  • Ability to communicate results of assigned tasks in writing.

  • Ability to document work performed on a project in project logs.

  • Ability to document specific information about project data in the metadata file.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Experience implementing GIS standards and quality control procedures on GIS projects.

  • Proficiency in basic office automation software including MS-Word or MS-Excel.

  • Knowledge of CAD/BIM data formats, quality control / review processes relating to BIM standards, scripting skills for development of automated testing and quality reviews.
