Would you enjoy working closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design? Parsons is now hiring a Principal AutoCAD Designer for our rapidly expanding oilgas projects in Los Angeles, CA

Parsons extensive experience in this field combined with your design knowledge and technical skills will propel your career forward. We need our Designers at this level to complete the most complex and difficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a project.

In this role you will complete highly-technical, difficult, and complex design assignments within one discipline, generally utilizing 3D CAD methods. Technical skills gained from education/training and experience over many years enable you to work independently and complete the most demanding design assignments. Principal Designers may serve as Lead Designer on a small to medium-sized project.

Responsibilities:

  • Completes the most complex and difficult designs and layouts for complete systems and components of a project. Assignments typically involve design elements for which there may be no clearly established precedents and require anticipation of problems at the outset in order to provide appropriate solutions.

  • Performs front-end layout and design of complex systems and equipment applicable to the respective discipline.

  • Ensures compliance with required specifications, tolerances, safety factors, and client requirements.

  • Performs specialized design computations and analysis within a given discipline.

  • Performs interdisciplinary reviews and provides coordination of data to ensure a compatible design.

  • Understands and applies commonly used company design standards and methods. May assist in the establishment or revision of guidelines and standards.

  • Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.

  • Checks orthographic (2D) and isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others. May provide direction to a team of checking personnel, ensuring the mathematical accuracy of the drawings produced.

  • Collaborates with Engineers and other engineering disciplines to ensure quality of design.

  • Experience working with Map3D or Plant 3D or Civil 3D

  • Assists in training lower-level Designers in various procedures.

  • May serve as Lead Designer on a project, ensuring compliance with industry codes, as well as project and company standards. May prepare manpower estimates, as required.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications :

  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred

  • 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Job leadership experience would be helpful

  • Requirements include strong PC and CAD skills, as well as efficiency in utilizing computer software to complete design assignments.
