Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an Electrical Designer in their Markham office in Ontario to join the civil infrastructure group to be part of a team working on projects of Roadways, Bridges, Transitways, Municipal and/or County arterial roads, side streets, multi-use pathways, parking facilities etc.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Experience in Roadway Lighting Design and Traffic Signal Design is muat. Preference is given to the Province of Ontario’s Street Lighting and / or Traffic Signal Design experience.
Be part of the electrical project team and attend project meetings
Perform lighting calculations (AGI software knowledge desired), loading calculations, short circuit calculations, voltage drop calculations and Arc Flash Analysis calculations
Ministry of Transportation, Ontario’s work experience is desired
Generate one-line diagrams, traffic signals, roadway lighting wiring diagrams, and electrical details
Write and edit project construction specifications.
Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations, and punch lists
Coordinate on-site with the electrical contractor and Perform field inspections and provide professional field support as necessary during construction phases.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and 1-3 years of related work experience. (desired)
Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practices.
Professional Engineer registration is desired.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired.
Experience in MTO and other municipal agencies of Ontario is desired.
Proficiency in the use of Lighting Design Software AGI32 is desired.
Proficiency in doing Voltage Drop Calculations, short circuit calculations, and arc flash analysis calculations is desired.
A strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired.
