Job Description:
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates for the position of a Junior level Environmental Planner to support Parsons Transportation Infrastructure business in the Toronto Metropolitan Area.
The Environmental Planner's key responsibilities include:
Assist Environmental Planners on Environmental Assessment (EA) projects (MTO, Municipal and Transit projects)
Be involved in a range of infrastructure projects tasks including research, report writing, and supporting consultation programs
Work with staff at other Parsons offices and with project sub-consultants
Coordinate with internal and external technical service areas, discipline leads and technical staff, on technical studies and preparation of environmental assessment documentation
Coordinate, support and be involved with public consultation and stakeholder engagement, including consultation with Indigenous Communities
Assist environmental field staff in completing environmental inventories, as required
Skills & Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in environmental planning, biology, natural sciences, planning or another related discipline
1-2 years of experience working as an Environmental Planner or solid internships is highly desirable, but not required.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills
Ability to work in as a part of a multidisciplinary project team and independently
Experience in Environmental Assessments including MTO Class EA, Municipal Class EA, Transit Project Assessment Process, Canadian Environmental Assessment Act
Familiar with environmental permitting and approvals process
Experience in the Ontario market with a focus on infrastructure projects (local/regional municipalities, MTO, Metrolinx, TTC)
Experience with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders (MNRF, MOECC, Conservation Authorities, Transport Canada, Parks Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada); experience with Indigenous Community consultation/engagement an asset
Exceptional writing and presentation skills
Eligibility for a Registered Professional Planner (RPP), and/or Canadian Institute of Planners (MCIP) professional designation
Knowledge of local, provincial and federal environmental policies, legislation and applicable law
Ability to travel (locally) to multiple sites
Thorough knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, experience with GIS software an asse
