Job Description:

We are hiring an experienced transportation Project Engineer with our Greater Toronto Critical Infrastructure team. Parsons is hiring an experienced Transportation Project Engineer with a desire to work on creating innovative, practical solutions to various projects that enhance the fabric of our community. In this role, you will be responsible for the design management and technical delivery of projects in the Greater Toronto Region while demonstrating capabilities to manage the scope, schedule and budget in accordance with contractual obligations to ensure that performance goals and client objectives are met.


Your knowledge of municipal design methods, goals and objectives will be instrumental in helping us win new work and execute projects to the clients' satisfaction. You will be able to take the lead on the design of projects and be able to work with our up and coming engineers to ensure they understand the standards of quality work which you are known for.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Working with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of projects and/or proposals. Managing engineering resources to deliver projects to the client's satisfaction, overseeing subcontractors if needed

  • Establishes weekly meetings to review project design status and formulate action items with junior engineers and designers

  • Manage and lead the design process on large projects and implement process, scope and quality checks where required

  • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures. Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.

  • Perform complex geometrics design of transportation systems

  • Meets Traffic Engineering layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.

  • Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications. Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.

  • Utilizes various engineering software to perform technical work and stamps drawings as required

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as required.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related project management/technical/business field.

  • 15+ years of related project execution and/or program management experience on same or similar large scope design and construction management projects within Transportation (Roads/Highways).

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience working on municipal projects with local clients in local municipalities such as the City of Hamilton, City of Burlington, Halton Region and Region of Waterloo.

  • Professional Designation (P. Eng) required along with the ability and willingness to travel to support client and project teams.

  • Must have the ability to mentor junior staff, manage and deliver projects, interface with clients and enjoy delivering technical designs.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards.

  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity with excellent written and oral communications.
