Parsons Corporation Senior IT Systems Administrator in Markham, Ontario

Parsons is looking to hire a full-time Sr. System Administrator to work in our Markham, ON office on our intelligent traffic systems project delivery team. In this role, you will be continuously driven to improve IT processes for improved performance of solutions delivered to our clients. Develop strategy and create metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategy. Performs application monitoring and performance tuning. Perform operating system software updates, upgrades, and patches. Performs administration activities such as setting user accounts, roles, access, and privileges.
Design, deployment and management of complex, high availability IT infrastructures
Develop and maintain detailed deployment and maintenance documentation plans for server & networking infrastructure
Ensures compliance with uptime and performance standards and develops system and product benchmarking and monitoring
Deployment and management of intelligent traffic systems applications for our client delivered solutions
Ensures compliance to company and client IT security policies and standards.
Ability to design technical IT solutions and provide specifications and pricing for equipment and COTS software, that meet project requirements.
Building, configuring, patching, upgrading and troubleshooting of physical and virtual servers (rack mounts/blades, and VMs) for Windows and Linux
Taking care of backup, off-site tape storage, inventory-asset management
Ability to manage and support database deployments and operations. (monitoring, backup, restore, cluster/replication configuration)
Monitor server event logs, performance logs, growth of data on the network, and checking the status of nightly server backups
Investigating, resolving and closing user reported problems and application issues through our ticketing system
Providing a high level of client service at all times
Providing on-call support for client deployments, occasionally at client locations
Performs day-to-day maintenance and installation of the server, network equipment, virtual machines, messaging, backups and storage
Work on moderately complex assignments, using judgment to resolve problems and make routine recommendations
Create scripts to manage and monitor applications and systems.
Configure system monitors and alerts using common network monitor applications
Installing, configuring and deploying new PCs & Servers
Supporting users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training and advice
Provide detailed project status reporting as directed by management
Desired Qualifications and Certifications
Microsoft MTA in network, security, or administration fundamentals
Associate level certification or higher from Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent
AWS or Azure certification
Linux Foundation certification
