Job Description:

We are hiring a Structural/Bridge CAD Manager to support Bridge and Rail/Transit projects for our Ontario team. If you design to work on both conventional and design/build Bridge programs, and be a part of a global company that has designed over 4400 bridges around the world - this is the opportunity for you! We have a large number of active bridge projects in the region, and several rail/transit projects with Bridge and other related structures in various stages of design, from concept to construction. At Parsons, we have the technical expertise to deliver any type of bridge design, including Long Span bridges, Segmental bridges, Cable-Stayed bridges, Movable bridges and Suspension Bridges as well as conventional bridges. A brief summary of the responsibilities of the position

  1. The CAD Manager position requires the provision of expert of CAD support within a multidiscipline engineering and urban planning environment specifically in automated drafting support in preparing drawings, general arrangement plans, steel connections, reinforcement details and other outputs for the specific plans following the transportation and bridge design process. Application of AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related programs in preparing materials used in studies, plans, subdivision plans and presentations.

  2. Organizational Relationship: The CAD manager reports to the bridges service line manager and supports service line engineers in their efforts to deliver the work; interfaces with various disciplines and coordinates the progress of the work.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages and coordinates the daily activities, assignments, productivity of the CAD team to ensure operational and technical excellence

  • Ensures the implementation of Parsons Quality System on all drawings

  • Develop, implement, and enforce CAD standards and provide production and provide CAD technical support

  • Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions and provide training and supervision of in-house CAD users

  • Maintain written technology evaluations for future software adoption and Interact on project standards coordination with clients

  • Designing and preparing maps to display information furnished by bridge engineers

  • Preparing and support any design drawings for bridge engineering purposes including general arrangement plans, detailed drawings, cross-sections, and steel connection details and reinforcement details.

  • Organization and management of plan project maps and plan files

  • Maintain CAD document archive and retrieval for projects and maintain CAD software inventory

  • Review projects, when needed for a QA/QC check against the applicable standards

  • Manage the data coming in and out of bridges service line such as Issue for Construction and As-builts so it aligns with Roads, Utilities, Corridors, Easements, and Coordinates

  • Coordinate with survey and GIS for PBCD's, Site Plans, and Utility reviews to access boundaries and corridors

  • Coordinate with GIS on a database level to ensure all data is up to date and correct

  • Manage the folder structure to provide an organized source to information

  • Manage a database of information from Construction to update the Masterplan

  • Troubleshoot all discrepancies from other departments design packages to ensure a QA/QC is being met per the Masterplan document

  • Coordinate with other departments for any reviews of As-Builts to ensure updates to the Master Plan

  • Expected to attend meetings, workshops, etc with all other departments, including A&E's, as needed to ensure the Masterplan is being followed according to standards and criteria

  1. Experience and Qualifications:
  • CET or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or the equivalent work experience, with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in providing computer-aided drafting support in the production of maps, plans, subdivision plans and other graphic aids for urban Design purposes

  • A minimum of years (4) years using AutoCAD and Civil 3D with a background knowledge of survey, GIS, and other and related fields

  • Direct experience in preparing preliminary design and final design structural and bridge drawings

  • Basic mathematical and analytical skills and ability to organize and display data in presentation formats, including reduced-sized figures for reports and full-scale drawings for display

  • Ability to successfully interact and communicate with professional designers, planners and civil engineers
