Job Description:

We are currently seeking a System Safety and RAM Director to join our team in Canada.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support to Transit Authorities or their consultants in the review and assessment of Systems Assurance procurement or development documentation from Car-builders or Design Build System Contractors or major suppliers.

  • Support to Car-builders or Design Build System Contractors or major suppliers in the delivery of RAMS procurement or development documentation, and the assessment, mitigation, and close-out of hazards.

  • Support to Business Development and marketing activities.

  • Develop and lead RAMS team.

  • Ensure work products meet stated and implicit technical requirements.

  • Audits of Transit System supplier RAMS programs.

  • Ability to manage a variety of independent assignments.

  • Able and willing to travel within North America and internationally.

Qualifications:

University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline

  • P.Eng with 15+ years of Rail/Transit Systems Experience with familiarity in all RAMS disciplines at a senior level

  • Experienced in the application of CENELEC Standards 50126, 50128, and 50129 and MIL-STD-882 over a full project lifecycle from planning, execution, and delivery, to system acceptance.

  • Experience working with or as part of an Independent Safety Assessor

  • Experienced in the application of transit standards and guidelines, such as FTA, APTA, NFPA 130, and AREMA.

  • Ability to develop RAMS plans, models, and analyses in support of clients.

  • Able to develop the RAMS team.

  • Ability to make recommendations on the mitigation strategy and to negotiate resolution of hazards.

  • Ability to develop maintainability analyses and supervise, review, or witness maintainability demonstrations.

  • Ability to “market” RAMS engineering as a value-added tool.

  • Must be able to work in a multi-disciplinary transit environment.

  • Must have the experience to work comfortably within a client’s System Assurance organization either in a review and audit role or as a part of the team.

  • Able to develop and present technical papers on the subject, or specific aspects of RAMS to agencies, peers or professional conferences.

  • Strong analytical skills.

  • Effective verbal communication including listening and speaking skills.

  • Effective written presentation and communication skills and the ability to guide others in the preparation of required analyses or reports.

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office and especially Word, Visio, Excel and RAM modelling tools.
