Ready to put your skills to work on a Bus Radio Construction Project? Do you have a great eye for detail? Parsons is now hiring a Construction Engineer in NYC for the Construction and testing of the Bus Radio Command Stations.
Parsons is serving as design-build system integrator for replacing the radio system with a Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) open architecture solution for 6,250 buses and support vehicles and 1,250 portable radios. The coverage area of the integrated voice and data radio network encompasses all the bus routes of two bus companies, enabled through 35 base stations located in 5 boroughs of New York City. The solution will be incorporated into a new bus command center deploying radio, computer-aided dispatch, video walls, telephone, fire alarm, intrusion detection, and various network management systems.
Witness testing for power plant, HVAC, Fire alarm, Generator commissioning to cover load Test and factory acceptance tests.
Oversee construction, installation for HVAC, remote control systems, SBS Cabinets, alarms and sensor detection.
Witness the retrofitting and the installation on of the Bus RF Tetra antenna system, including the microwave equipment, control and testing and microwave length verification.
Act as site lead for all the construction activities for the Bus Radio project, manage tasks of each disciplines: Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Wireless, Telecommunication and Utilities.
Lead the submittal activities and review shop drawing from the subcontractors and integral engineers.
Review Preliminary Design drawings, code compliance documents with critical design review comments and system verification plans.
Supervise the daily construction plans.
Participate in the integrating and retrofitting of the radio system with a Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) and communication networks architecture solution for the 6,250 NYCT buses to support all vehicles, 1,250 portable radios.
Develop and execute test plans and installing tested products at the vendor and client side. Apply advanced product quality planning and identify improvements to work methods by reviewing and analyzing potential method and/or design changes.
Strong experience in unit testing and quality control; evaluating, recommending, and developing AutoCAD layouts and equipment installations; and preparing and revising standard operating procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in engineering, quality or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience, as well as 3+ years of experience in field construction is required.
Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as some familiarity with industry practices. Also requires good written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction.
