We are hiring an Interface Database Engineer II to support various rail and transit projects in the NY and NJ areas. If you are experienced with rail and transit projects,have experience with design/build projects and exceptional analytical skills - this is the position for you!

in this role,you will focus on the development of engineering and interdisciplinary integrations of project designs into the overall design concept for a given project. This position will entail completing and checking complex engineering calculations, coordinating with other engineers and the engineering designers, and engineering management to assure proper railroad component configurations including interdisciplinary interfaces.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recommend solutions to project layout

  • Provide confirmation that the work product resulting from our scope meets the budget and schedule

  • Offer technical direction and report status

  • Performs complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately

  • Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings

  • Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys and designs

  • Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes

  • Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments

  • Maintains Project Interface Database

  • Assists Project Manager with interdisciplinary coordination

  • Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses

  • Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents

  • Provides technical guidance and direction to CAD Designer/Drafters and lower level engineers working on the same project

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of designing and engineering rail and track that meet customer quality requirements

  • BS in civil engineering from an accredited institution and EIT required

  • PE or ability to obtain PE within 2 years

  • Proven record of resolving railroad project problems, adhering to the work scope, budget and schedule, and reporting the work status

  • Experience on passenger rail projects, Amtrak preferred

  • Ability to provide calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installations packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed engineering analysis

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products

  • Proficient in MicroStation

  • Ability to create horizontal and vertical alignments in Bentley Rail Track, previously InRail

  • Knowledge of Amtrak Spec 63 preferred

  • Ability to communicate clearly in grammatically correct English, both written and verbal communication
