Parsons Corporation Low Voltage Equipment Installation Technician in New York, New York

Parsons has been in the process of designing/delivering and installing a new Terrestrial Trunked Radio System (TETRA) and Command Center for NY City public safety program, for the past 3 years. This is an exciting program, and as we continue to retrofit over 6000 buses with new radio systems - we need you!

We will be hiring 20+ qualified Low Voltage equipment installers to work full time hours, to install and test equipment on board these buses. We are looking for individuals who have experience in installing low voltage cabling and related equipment. We expect you to be committed to quality and safety, be a natural problem solver, well versed with hand-tools and adhere to industry standards and client instructions. We will provide a 3 to 4-day training program and help you achieve certification with the client upon proving your capabilities to perform the work. Must be local to New York City / Northern New Jersey and able to work 3rd (night) shift and weekends. Must be eligible to work in the US. Sponsorship is not offered for these positions.

Details include: 40+ hours per week, paid overtime, day or night shift and/or weekend work, for the period of up to one year

Location: The 5 boroughs of New York City; public parking is available near the bus depots or we will provide metro pass for transit or bus travel to the work locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Install pre-assembled, low-voltage (12-24 Volt) and communication wire harnesses onto Buses Install LMR Coaxial Cable and Antenna on Bus Roof, which may include drilling, soldering and wiring crimping using hand or power tools.

  • Install mobile radio unit, on-board driver display unit/computer and related equipment, like speakers, and microphones. Perform final assembly of control panels and equipment including point to point wiring from wiring run lists and electrical schematics.

  • Power up all equipment to control center and test/troubleshoot final functions.

  • Clean Workspaces/areas worked on Buses once complete

  • Must follow pre-installation checklists, and system component installation instructions as well as power up and testing instructions.

  • Will use the following: basic hand tools, power drill, saws, wrenches, torque screwdriver, Molex extraction tool and sealant. (Tools will be provided)

Requirements:

  • High school education or GED

  • Must be willing to work 3rd shift and weekends and commit to 40+ hours per week for 12 months

  • Must have good written and spoken communication skills. Must be able to read and write in English

  • Must be able to follow detailed manuals/instructions to perform the work as described above

  • Must be willing to climb ladders, work extended shifts, and work in enclosed/ semi confined spaces (i.e. within Buses or other related vehicles)

  • Must be willing to complete required background, drug and Fitness For Duty Tests

  • Strong Safety/quality orientation

Must have at least 1 or more year of experience with the following:

  • Final assembly and Installation of low-voltage wiring harness assembly or related equipment

  • Using hand tools, saws, drills, wrenches, etc.

  • Performing installation of electrical and mechanical equipment

  • Working with electrical schematic diagrams

  • Testing and troubleshooting of sub-assemblies and final assemblies
