Parsons Corporation NY/NJ Construction Management Practice Leader in New York, New York

Are you accomplished in turnkey delivery of large projects and programs in the transportation area? Have you delivered these programs in the NY market? If so, Parsons is seeking NY Construction Management Practice Leader to join our team in NY.

The selected person will be responsible for the Construction Management Profit & Loss and operational leadership and tasked with growing our business. The position will lead and oversee Highway, Bridge, Rail, Transit and Aviation projects. This position calls for someone who is experienced in market strategy and that is well connected and respected within the regional community. In addition to the operational oversight of the region, your time will be spent developing key relationships, driving proposal strategies and actively managing projects and staff. Moderate travel may be required in the New York area.

Plans, directs, and controls all activities of a Construction Management Business and responsible for the overall growth and profit objectives.


Assesses present and future needs, trends, problems, and identifies profit opportunities for the construction management group . In line with corporate business objectives, establishes short and long-term operating and financial objectives for the construction management group.

Participates in development of policies and procedures related to the operations of the Construction Management Group.

Serve as construction group’s overall program managers with respect to staffing, recruiting and the management of the construction management portfolio’s key performance indicators. Also, manage the construction management portfolio to meet client expectations with respect to scope of services, budget and schedule, including change order management.

Ensures that approved policies and established objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied in construction management group.

Measures the results of the construction management group’s activities against established schedules and financial objectives. Takes appropriate remedial action as necessary.

Reviews and evaluates contracts, appropriations, and expenditure requests submitted by managers. Approves those within authority, and submits those beyond authority to top management along with recommendations.

Reviews and appraises performance of subordinate managers and recommends compensation changes as appropriate. Approves compensation changes for personnel within each operating unit. Ensures that the organizational structure of each operating unit is efficiently planned and adequately and competently staffed.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.

  • 20+ years of experience managing Construction Management projects with increasing level of responsibility, including staff management and recruitment within the New York & New Jersey region.

  • CCM OR PE preferred

  • Significant experience in Construction Management projects in New York City.

  • Demonstrable experience meeting operational business goals and strategizing on market development.

  • Considerable experience in client management, proposal strategies and pipeline development.

  • Rail/Transit and Highway/Bridge project experience, as well as CM experience is preferred

  • Involvement with Design-Build project delivery is a plus


Proven ability for managing a large and diverse group of personnel within field of expertise and providing direction for resolving complex work assignments. Also requires expert knowledge of standard practices within field of expertise, as well as applicable codes and regulations. Must be knowledgeable of best practices for utilizing communication technology, automation, and various software applications in order to achieve the highest level of productivity within organizational unit. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations to senior management, must also be demonstrated.
