The selected engineer will be responsible for developing plan sheets, specifications, and analysis models for projects for a diverse local client base (NYCDOT, NYSDOT, PANYNJ, TBTA) as well as clients across the country for our signature span (suspension bridges, cable stayed bridges, moveable bridges) across the country and internationally.
The selected engineer will be responsible for the development of contract documents (drawings, calculations, specifications) for bridge structure designs under the direction of a more senior engineer. The selected engineer will be expected to produce detailed drawings with minimal direction. On a larger project, the selected engineer will direct a small team of more junior engineers.
In addition to design, field inspection opportunities on long-span (suspension and steel truss bridges) are an annual event and provide an opportunity for professional exposure and growth.
The selected engineer will perform complex engineering tasks and particularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately. Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs. Completes a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. Frequently interfaces with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments. Reviews contractor drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses. Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
Provides technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project. May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances. May act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
This position pays a minimum annual salary of $79,100.00 and a maximum annual salary of $138,400.00.
