We are seeking a Senior Supervising Engineer to work in our New York/New Jersey transportation market. We work in both traditional design-bid-build and design-build/Public-Private-Partnership delivery methods. We are looking for candidates with the ability to work in a highly flexible, team-oriented environment that have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills. This position performs advanced level electrical engineering design and construction supervision and support services tasks. This position will be based in Parsons Newark, New Jersey Office, with hybrid working arrangements available. While the position is based in Newark, our NY/NJ operations support projects throughout the US and Canada. Modest travel may be required from time to time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare detailed calculations, technical reports, engineering plans and specifications, procurement documents, design and installation packages, cost estimates, detailed analyses and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes. This position consults with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. Applies engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria for complex and cross discipline projects.

leverage Senior level technical knowledge to consider a broad range of engineering solutions for movable bridges. With minimal supervision you will be expected to perform conventional and complex engineering assignments. Address design related issues and complete tasks to meet the project schedule. Mentor train and review the work of junior engineering staff and provide senior level guidance.

Typical design tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Extensive familiarity with Codes and Standards relating to the application areas.

  • Fixed and Moveable bridge power and control system design, inspection and rehabilitation.

  • Roadway and tunnel lighting calculations and design.

  • Utility-related work and utilities relocation.

Responsibilities include:

  • develop scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex engineering projects.

  • Provide senior level technical guidance and mentoring to Junior Engineers with the group.

  • Provide cross discipline coordination of the technical aspects of the project.

  • Lead the electrical delivery on larger projects and work closely with other disciplines.

  • Research available design options and document findings for the project manager.

  • Possible travel to supplier, client, or construction site locations to inspect various facets of work and to perform acceptance testing.

  • Frequently interface with other Engineering disciplines as well as other departments.

  • Review supplier drawing submittals, respond to field requests for information.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

BS degree in Civil Engineering required.

  • 15+ years of heavy industrial/facilities related experience. (Individuals working for utility companies, industrial buildings or related facilities are encouraged to apply)

  • Registration as a Professional Engineer required.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications, be totally familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment and have the potential to perform in a lead capacity.

  • Must be able to present technical work to clients to develop consensus and sales.

  • English proficiency.

Salary Range:

$117,000.00 - $210,600.00
