Principal Civil Engineer – Utilities / Infrastructure – Bay Area, California
Parsons is now hiring for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to lead and support various projects for utility clients in the San Francisco / Oakland Bay Area.

In this role you will plan and perform utility designs and street improvements around the Bay Area. The successful candidate analyzes proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Responsible for the development of engineering computations, material quantity take-offs, estimates, surveys and designs. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.
May function as discipline Project Engineer on medium to large projects, assuming responsibility for the work of the group.May plan, direct, and supervise the work of a major engineering unit or project requiring a largescale expenditure of manpower and financial investment.Leads other Engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and growth in the Quality Improvement Process.Provides technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses.
Prepares design drawings for utility plans and street improvement plans.
Prepares technical memoranda describing proposed design solutions.
Coordinates with other engineering disciplines and consultants while progressing project designs.
Coordinates with multiple utility agencies identifying existing utilities, utility design criteria, and discussing proposed utility designs.
Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties, including preparation of task order descriptions/proposals.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) is required and 10 years or more of related work experience, with experience supporting major utility clients is highly desirable. Especially municipal water utility projects.
Professional Engineer ( PE) registration is desirable, but not required.Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are requiredMust possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project
