Job Description:

Senior/Principal Transportation Engineer/Infrastructure – San Francisco Bay Area Oakland

Opportunity:

Our Parsons Bay Area office in Oakland, California is now hiring for an experienced Senior/Principal Civil/Transportation Engineer to help lead and support engineering and design on regional Northern and Central California projects, as well as design build projects throughout the U.S. We are seeking a Civil/Transportation Engineer with 8 or more years of experience with major rail and/or transit systems and highway/roadway networks to help support transportation clients such as Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), California High Speed Rail, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA), and various municipalities. Experience in California is desirable, but experience outside of California is also acceptable. Flexible hybrid remote working schedules are allowed on a project-by-project basis with willingness to work in an office to provide mentoring of junior staff. Relocation assistance may be offered. This role requires the individual to be based in the Bay Area.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of work products that may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

  • Supervise and mentor one or more junior engineers and CAD designers and provide input regarding their performance while serving as a lead design engineer.

  • Lead, execute and/or review design of highways, roadways and/or track for grade separations, grade crossings, transit stations, bus rapid transit (BRT) facilities, the interstate highway system, and/or other jurisdictions.

  • Perform geometric design and some 3D modeling on a variety of transportation projects, utilizing MicroStation InRoads and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D software.

  • Provide support for other engineering activities as required.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).

  • 8 years or more of related work experience with rail and transit systems and/or road and highway projects.

  • PE license (from any state) is required with ability to obtain licensure in California within 6 months of hire date.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong background in Microsoft Excel and Word, MicroStation InRoads or Geopak, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D software is essential.

  • Experience with Caltrans, freight railroad, BART, and/or urban transit projects is preferred.

  • Experience designing major highway interchanges and ramps is desirable.

  • Experience designing infrastructure for multiple modes of transportation, e.g. road, rail, bike, pedestrians.

Salary Range:

$81,500.00 - $161,400.00
