Parsons Corporation Environmental Scientist (Co-Op Position) in Oakville, Ontario

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Co-op Student to join our Environmental team as an Environmental Scientist (co-op). As the successful candidate, you will provide support to our Environmental team as they complete a wide variety of projects such as environmental impact assessments, environmental site assessments and remediations, excess soil management and environmental compliance projects. We are looking for a candidate who is available for either a 4-month or 8-month co-op placement. The successful candidate will work closely with our project managers and field staff in supporting field work, managing data, report writing and other project support functions.
Your responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to the following:
Support and conduct field work (i.e., groundwater, surface water and soil sampling) using various types of equipment (i.e., GPS, data loggers, survey level, combustible gas meters, interface probes). Field work may involve travel (sometimes to remote sites) for several days.
Assist Project Managers and field staff with program execution to ensure that work is completed safely in a timely and efficient manner.
Provide project support including data management and analysis associated with environmental investigations, including inputting, organizing, quality checking and presenting environmental data in reports, supporting database and mobile applications for environmental data, and drafting/formatting technical letters, memos, and reports.
Other duties as assigned which may include support office/non-technical related tasks including maintaining supplies and equipment, assisting with shipping, coordinating workshops and technical seminars and participating in or organizing social events.
Enrolled in a University degree or College diploma program in environmental science, engineering, earth science, environmental technician, or other related programs with an excellent academic record.
Great attitude and able to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment without compromising health and safety.
A desire to learn and have excellent written and oral communications skills.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel.
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Working knowledge of AutoCad
Working knowledge of ESRI GIS software
Ability to work outside regular business hours and out-of-town as required
