We have been a leader in municipal design and delivery of civil infrastructure for more than 75 years and are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to add to our team in the Greater Toronto Region. We have a great working relationship with municipalities across Southern Ontario with consistent regional municipal work, in conventional project delivery and are looking for a strong leader with the ability to lead projects and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
We are seeking people that demonstrate technical excellence in civil design and are thought leaders delivering complex projects, without sacrificing schedule and budget! In this role, you will be responsible for scope development, scope management and budget performance of the projects to meet their goals and objectives.
The Engineering Manager – Municipal Services plans and defines program goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. This position will coordinate projects through all phases of project inception, programming, design, construction, and closeout.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide leadership and direction for municipal transportation, servicing and multi-disciplinary infrastructure work in the GTHA (Peel, Halton, Hamilton, Niagara) and SW Ontario in coordination with other senior managers;
Oversee project delivery and PMs, by assigning work to and overseeing work of Project Managers and technical staff;
Monitors and reports to Water Infrastructure Director on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.
Coordinate and assess need for delivery, staffing, hiring etc. for current and upcoming work;
Preparation of RFPs for municipal transportation and infrastructure projects;
Assist with, answer, or delegate technical questions from design staff;
Technical advisor, QA/QC, review deliverables, reports and proposals (both contents and fees);
Provide coaching and mentoring/training of technical staff, EITs, junior/intermediate engineers for success in their career;
Manage select projects as needed;
Work with team and other senior management (VPs etc.) to build the team and offices;
Work with other senior management on project opportunities and marketing direction;
Client point of contact/manager: Cultivate, and maintain relationships with new and existing clients;
Identify, build and maintain relationships with preferred / go to subconsultants etc.;
Support reporting PMs and finance team with invoicing and accounts receivable;
Participate in select professional organization events on behalf of company; and
Maintain professional development based on PEO requirements and ensure engineering and technical staff maintain ongoing professional development for their respective regulatory bodies.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical/business field,
P Eng registration with PEO
Ontario project experience is desirable.
15+ years of related municipal design and leadership experience; design-build experience is a plus
Requires the ability to manage projects, interface with clients and enjoy working technically hands-on while leading the Engineers on Parson's projects.
Excellent written and oral communications
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subcontractors during the program execution.
Negotiates changes to the scope of work with the client and key subcontractors. Markets and secures additional work with our clients.
Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project. May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of clients.
Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through the application of Quality Assurance processes.
