Parsons Corporation Civil Engineering Technologist - Critical Infrastructure in Ottawa, Ontario

Job Description:

Parsons has a position open for a Civil Engineering Technologist to prepare complex Road & Highway design and Traffic Engineering layouts and design drawings utilizing theoretical and practical design knowledge. This position is located in the Ottawa office with regular travel between all local offices as required. Experience with C ivil 3D and Micro S tation is essential. Experience with other AutoDesk and Bentley products (AutoTURN, OpenRoads Designer, ProjectWise, TORUS) will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities :

  • Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company policies and procedures. Understands and utilizes more advanced software to complete assignments.

  • Perform basic geometrics design of road & highway systems .

  • Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.

  • Meets Traffic Engineering and Complete Street layout requirements and develops alternate design layouts of systems as required.

  • Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.

  • Reviews supplier data and supplier/manufacturer drawings, as required.

  • Checks orthographic (2D) and/or isometric (3D) drawings prepared by others.

  • Performs checking procedures as appropriate to the discipline and assigned by immediate supervisor.

  • Performs design and quantity calculations.

  • Utilizes Civil 3D and MicroStation to perform various design work.

Requirements :

  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer course (or equivalent) is preferred, or 4+ years of relevant experience.
