Job Description:

Polaris Alpha® Advanced Systems, a Parsons Company, is hiring a technical writer whose role will be essential to the design, implementation, and delivery of high performance, secure, mission critical solutions. We seek a writer that is versatile and is enthusiastic to tackle new challenges as we continue to provide the military with cutting edge tools. For this position, the technical writer will support advanced capabilities for armament systems at Picatinny Arsenal, NJ for new tactical fire control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Authoring and/or editing various types of system, user, and program documentation, including briefs, usage manuals, system design, and training materials for DoD software applications and hardware.

  • Develop sufficient understanding of the technical subject matter and participate in meetings to review, clarify and finalize content for distribution.

  • Adherence to government standards, including classification markings and versioning.

  • Technically and grammatically accurate content development, also easy to understand by the intended audience.

Qualifications:

  • Utilize applications and tools to create and format technical documentation and presentations, including text, software and network diagrams, screenshots and workflows.

  • Understand and utilize document management systems to access, store and retrieve versioned files.

  • Excellent organizational, communications, problem-solving and people skills, be a self-starter, ability to interact with engineers on an ongoing basis, and enjoy being part of and contributing to a hard-working team with minimal supervision.

  • Must have the ability to quickly learn and creatively leverage new technologies.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and hold or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. While a security clearance may not be required, it may be in the future so candidates should have or have held a clearance or be clearable.

  • Must be able to travel. Anticipated travel level 0%-10%.

Desired Capabilities:

  • Software development lifecycle experience (SDLC), especially within the DoD

  • Experience with Government standards and procedures.

  • Understanding of, and experience working within, the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)​ or Agile environments.

  • Experience with Visio, SharePoint, and configuration management systems.

  • Experience with or knowledge of U.S. Army tactical fire control systems.
