Job Description:

The Design Compliance & Interface Manager is responsible for the functional oversight of design works carried out on the project meets compliance requirements and has been integrated with other project components. Responsible for functional oversight of the management of design interfaces between project’s various stakeholders, including the client's Delivery Teams, external consultants, and other relevant external stakeholders, and will work closely with the project's Delivery Teams to ensure timely delivery of coordinated design documentation.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Review and monitor the program’s design activities to ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations and standards.

  • Central point of contact for the control, development and maintenance of design standards, specifications and guidelines for the program where needed, working in collaboration with the client and the Delivery Teams.

  • Functional oversight of the design review process and verify that all design changes are properly documented and communicated to relevant stakeholders by the delivery teams.

  • Functional review of design-related issues to validate they are tracked, resolved, and closed out in a timely manner.

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to verify that interfaces between different program components are properly managed and coordinated.

  • Verify that identification and management of program-level design risks and risk mitigation strategies are implemented across the program.

  • Verify that all design documentation is properly recorded and managed throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Provide technical support to the Delivery Teams on design matters.

  • Prepare and communicate to the relevant parties regular progress reports on design compliance and interface management.

  • Develop and implement digital improvement plans that maximize the use of BIM/GIS applications in the design development process to verify that interfaces are actively managed and coordinated through the gate way process

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 10+ years of related work experience, including managerial experience of discipline leads and technical support personnel. Professional registration with active professional membership is required. MBA or related MSc degree desirable.

Proven experience in managing design compliance and interface issues on infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of relevant regulations, codes and standards. Ability to identify and manage design risks and experience in managing design documentation.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

Proven ability to manage a large group of senior technical personnel, the ability to drive excellence in field of expertise, focusing on safety, quality and improvement of processes and mentoring. Ideal candidate should have excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations required. Must also demonstrate the ability to effectively execute and manage complex tasks. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific software.

Must be capable of conducting focused briefings to all levels of management. This includes effective problem solving and exercising excellent judgment regarding timing and senior management involvement in significant issues. Ability to network across departments and key external stakeholders.
