Parsons Corporation Design Manager - Landscape in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

POSITION OVERVIEW :

Parsons requires a very capable, self-motivated, self-sufficient, experienced all-around Landscape Architect to join the landscape design team at Parsons. Must be good with clients as well as managing project teams. Must have a DESIGN background and be a capable and preferably talented intuitive conceptual designer. Must have excellent technical skills including construction supervision and know-how to supervise development of all phases of design service including construction documentation packages.

The Design Manager - Landscape provides oversight to realize execution excellence in the delivery of all phases of landscape architecture projects under his/her direction and in the landscape group generally. He/she shall be responsible for the technical excellence of the tasks and analyses performed, regulatory compliance, and for on-schedule completion of landscape projects within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations.

  • Along with the Project Managers, who are responsible for the overall health and delivery of projects in terms of budget, schedule, and client satisfaction, the Principal Landscape Architect is responsible for delivering technical and aesthetic design quality and value to clients, within allocated hours and associated costs, identifying scope creep as potential variation orders, and otherwise be responsible for the technical delivery of the projects in tandem with the Project Managers.

  • Determines aesthetic design and practical technical solutions for the planning of external spaces including hardscapes, softscapes, streetscapes etc. Project types may include urban space planning, commercial buildings and spaces, residential projects, industrial sites, public open spaces and parks, resorts, hotels and leisure facilities etc.

  • Proficiency in providing complex technical solutions and preparing full technical packages from Concept Design, through Design Development, Final Design to Tender and Construction Contract Documentation in coordination with landscape team members and internal and external allied technical disciplines. Experience and/or willingness and adaptability to transition to a BIM-based design process and delivery paradigm.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

In close coordination with the Lead Designer and/or Design Director and others, lead and direct the efficient, professional analysis, synthesis, and recommendation of conceptual design alternatives to establish, communicate and sell the design vision for landscape architectural design projects.

  • Strong technical Landscape Architectural skills, with at least 5-years of experience in the GCC area, ideally with time spent on-site and with knowledge of local site conditions.

  • Excellent ability to develop, draw and communicate technical and design ideas from concept to technical stage.

  • Exceptional communication skills. Excellent spoken and written English

  • Ability to work in a complex environment with many moving parts and high levels of ambiguity

  • Ability to lead and mentor other staff members across multiple organizations

  • Ability to work well under pressure

  • A motivated all-rounder with a positive can-do attitude and demonstrable technical abilities.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Good working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft office.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from a recognized university

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the landscape field showing increasing levels of responsibility

  • Experience managing landscape groups for established Architecture/Engineering firms or the client side

  • Proven leadership and delivery ability

  • Knowledge of LEED and ESTIDAMA principles, certification preferred

  • Excellent English verbal and writing skills
