Parsons Corporation Senior Design Manager - MEP in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Design Manager to join our team!

In this role, you will join a professional Project Management team that is involved in multiple projects on a program being developed by Diriyah Gate Development Authority. Anchored to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At Turaif, it is intended to become a world-class cultural heritage destination for the people of the kingdom and for visitors looking to discover the essence of Saudi Arabia. Phase 1 consists of a 7.5km master plan separated into 5 districts, each with a blend of asset classes, all of which are being designed in the Najdi architectural style and are well underway, so you will be joining the program at an exciting and challenging time.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provides management and direction to the Special Work consultant for public realm to ensure coordination, interfaces, and consistency between all design and construction phases.

  • Oversees task order initiation, approval, and execution under the Master Service Agreement.

  • Manage the Special Work consultants in fulfilling its contractual obligations in relation to the scope and on-time deliverables.

  • Identify and record scope changes in accordance with the change management plan.

  • Leads & records daily/weekly design progress meetings with the public realm consultant and Client and interface coordination meetings with assets PMCs.

  • Manages and monitors the authority approvals.

  • Reports weekly/monthly on task orders progress, opportunities, and blockers.

  • Manages design risks by updating the risk register on a weekly basis, liaising with the Special Work consultant’s consultant & DGCL to develop mitigation measures and escalating issues.

  • Works closely with the Senior Project Manager and Commercial and Procurement Team to resolve any existing or anticipated problems related to resources, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.

  • Supports Commercial Director with evaluation of consultant’s variations, claims and extension of time claims.

  • Actively participates in and champions continuous quality Improvement by reviewing processes' efficiency, arranging regular lessons learned, and making improvement recommendations.

  • Establishes standards and procedures manuals for the discipline.

  • Recommends improvements to department procedures. Recruits, interviews, and evaluates prospective employees.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring :

  • Ability to work within established processes and to timelines set to deliver the design to meet downstream deadlines for procurement and construction.

  • Proven ability to perform in supervisory/special work and MEP capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required.

  • Strong discipline toward keeping contemporaneous records to provide an accurate audit trail for timelines set, decisions taken, and agreements made.

  • Ability to manage and influence stakeholders from the client and consultant organizations to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Ability to negotiate and contain conflicts.

  • Have a strong experience in the MEP, especially for the ICT, IT, and Special work.

  • Have strong experience in Multidisciplinary Engineering Design for Data Centers and Command and Control Centers.

  • Interface and coordinate with all other Districts' PMCs and the design consultants.

  • Review and validate the Design Consultant's deliverables and Scope.

  • Minutes of the weekly progress meetings of the Design Consultants.

  • Manage and respond to the Design Consultants' RFIs and inquiries.

  • Track design changes by the Design Consultants.

  • Have an experience in the preparation of the Scope of work and tender documents (RFPs and ITTs).

Minimum Clearance Required to Start:

  • Previous experience working for a PMC within a large program with multiple consultants and a large client team.

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or special work (or related field) and typically 10+ years of related work experience in a supervisory and technical managerial role.

  • Ten years’ experience in the Middle East, including 5 years’ experience in Saudi Arabia.

  • Professional membership of a recognized relevant organization.

  • Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software (AUTOCAD, Civil 3D, Revit) for use in completing engineering assignments.
