Parsons Corporation HVAC Mechanic in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii


This position supports the Life Cycle Contractor Support for the Joint Pacific Multinational Readiness Capability Instrumentation System (JPMRC-IS) program under the Army TADSS Maintenance Program (ATMP) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. JPMRC-IS operations support the Army s USARPAC mission: to provide realistic joint and combined arms training focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st century battlefield. This experience includes capabilities of many of the world’s best systems integration and engineering in the technical integration of live, virtual and constructive (LVC) training support.


  • Works with management to pre-plan and schedule daily and overall HVAC maintenance and repair to prevent functional breakdowns.

  • Performing diagnostics, repair, preventative maintenance, and safety checks on all HVAC equipment.

  • Maintaining HVAC equipment maintenance and repair records.

  • Ensuring physical security of equipment.

  • Maintenance and repair of equipment systems utilizing knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout, mounts compressor and condenser units on platform or floor, using hand tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications, fabricates, assembles and installs ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment, and installs evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.

  • Determining methods and sequence of troubleshooting, repair operations, and modifications to equipment by working from manufacturers’ manuals, drawings, and specifications, installation layouts and sketches and verbal or written instructions.

  • Performs such typical operations as connecting motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connects control panels to power source; installs air and water filters in completed installation, injects small amount of refrigerant into compressor to test systems and adds Freon gas to build up prescribed operating pressure. This mechanic observes pressure and vacuum gauges and adjusts controls to insure proper operation, tests joints and connections for gas leaks.

  • Replace worn or broken parts, defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed units, may install, repair and service air conditioners, ranging from fifteen to twenty tons cooling capacity make adjustments and alignments as required, clean areas, and prepare equipment for full service.


  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • At least 5 years of experience as a HVAC Mechanic.

  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) 91C, Utilities Equipment Repairer Course graduate, AFSC 3e1x1, or other military service equivalent preferred.

  • Universal HVAC Certification required.

  • Proficient with basic computer systems including email and Microsoft Office applications and be able to work with a computer for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and manufacturer diagrams and manuals.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in accordance with established procedures.

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid driver's license and Post driving privileges.

  • Able to obtain US passport (travel required)

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Possess a Secret Security Clearance.

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
