Job Description:
Parsons Seattle office is now hiring a Senior Roadway Transportation Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to
lead highway and civil roadway projects supporting WSDOT, and other transportation clients in Washington State.
What You'll Be Doing:
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior staff
Oversee/create surface models utilizing OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, Civil 3D and/or other similar design software.
Participate in interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible
Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for highways and civil features to support cost estimating such as alignments, horizontal geometry, vertical geometry, superelevation calcs and clear zone protection• Support project communications and technical meetings, provide coordination to resolve design issues• Experience in final package submittal including roadway geometrics, roadway design plans, pavement plans, signing and marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, wall plan and profile sheets• Provide oversight and direction to the design team, Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior staff,• Lead interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible,• Lead quality control reviews, comment resolution meetings, and verify corrections are completed,• Manage scope, schedule and budget for the roadway design team,• Execute final design of project elements such as roadway geometrics, roadway design plans, signing and marking plans, maintenance of traffic plans, wall plan and profile sheets, Design Exceptions, Design Deviations, and final Released for Construction (RFC) plans
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
A 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required
Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is desirable, but not required
Active PE licensure in any US state, with ability to obtain same in Washington State
Solid experience of 8 years or more leading and supporting roadway design engineering projects for any major state DOT work
Any previous experience with WSDOT projects is desirable
A thorough knowledge of Microstation and/or Autocad Civil 3D
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Experience serving as a team lead for engineering design support for major road and highway projects
Excellent verbal communication skills
Desire to mentor more junior engineering staff
Good customer/client service relationship skills
Ability to train junior engineers on various CAD software for design efforts

Salary Range:
$81,500.00 - $161,400.00
