Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an In vivo Laboratory Technician III – Lab Manager to support Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Experimental Therapeutics Branch (WRAIR ET) and its collaborating institutions in the conduct of biomedical research that is responsive to Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Army requirements. WRAIR ET’s mission is to is to discover and develop new therapeutic agents to protect military members from death, disease, and injury. Collectively, ET engages in drug discovery, drug efficacy and mechanism evaluation, formal preclinical and clinical development. The Branch also contributes to Graduate Medical Education via the Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship – the only fellowship of its kind within the DoD.

The In vivo Laboratory Technician III – Lab Manager will serve as Lab Manager in the in vivo laboratories in the Department of Drug Discovery.

What Responsibilities You'll Have:

Ensure all equipment within the in vivo laboratories are maintained and serviced as required and assist in the preparation of relevant equipment purchase documents.

Oversee animal procurement, delivery schedules, and manage inventory.

Assist with managing, tracking inventory, compiling and submitting orders for all supplies via government ordering systems.

Schedule departmental testing schedules, pre-protocol meetings, and oversee all animal studies conducted in Department of Drug Discovery.

Assist with the drafting in vivo study reports, manuscripts, presentations, posters, manuscripts, and/or proposals.

Assist in generating figures of experimental data for reports, presentations, posters, and publications.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

PhD in Microbiology or related field plus two (2) years’ experience; OR MS in Microbiology or related field plus five (5) years’ experience; OR BS in Biology or related field plus eight (8) years’ experience

Demonstrated expertise leading, coordinating, and scheduling daily activities and operations of in vivo laboratories;

Demonstrated expertise handling BSL 1 and 2 infectious agents, toxic chemicals, and blood-borne pathogens.

Demonstrated experience in design, development, and validation of in vivo models for rodents and non-human primates to include - dose-ranging, drug metabolism, efficacy, PK/PD, IVIS ( In vivo Imaging System), and toxicity studies;

Demonstrated experience with different routes of drug formulation and administration;
