Aero Change Detection Systems Integrator - IV

  • Clearance: Active TS/SCI

  • Location: St. Louis, MO

  • Years of Experience: 11The NGA Source Foundation Aero (SFAZ) team in partnership with GeointServices (GS) has begun undertaking a highly complex system modernization and migration effort. The candidate will serve as a member of the Aero Cloud Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) team directly support the SFAZ Technical Executive. SEIN is seeking highly skilled developers-integrators with experience deploying capabilities to the cloud utilizing continuous integration and continuous delivery techniques.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • The independent technical assessment and recommend approaches to best utilize the infrastructure, platforms and software services that are available to deliver and to host Aero capabilites.

  • The migration of Aero capabilities onto modern platforms.

Tasks include:

  • SFAZ Cloud adoption activities, providing adoption guidance, policy recommendations, pathfinder recommendations, identifying preliminary architecture principles and architecture patterns, and establishing Software-as-a-Service, Platform-as-a-Service, and Infrastructure-as-a-Service recommendations that support and guide cloud migration objective

  • Providing independent assessments of alternatives and helping SFAZ design and document concept of operations documentation and all other forms of documentation (security, architecture, etc.)

  • Maintaining knowledge of current technology and providing advice to the Customer on technology advancements and recommended application of those technologies

  • Providing expertise in the management of code and code baselines in cloud architectures.

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI Clearance (with a current SSBI favorably adjudicated within the last 5 years)

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS / Math / Science / Engineering, or related technical experience

  • 11+ years of Systems Engineering experience

  • Customer-service and goal-oriented with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under tight deadlines with changing priorities

  • Demonstrated understanding of commercial cloud technologies and services, with emphasis on best practices for use of features available within Amazon Web Services (AWS), and demonstrated experience with PaaS microservices/containerization technologies (e.g Docker, Rocket, Mesosphere DCOS)

  • Understanding of modern authentication and authorization protocols and how to integrate them into enterprise-scale capabilites hosted in the cloud (e.g. PKI, SAML, JWT, OpenID Connect)

  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to work in multi-contractor / government / commercial organizations

  • Previous experience with application design for, or operation of, PaaS implementations (for example Cloud Foundry, Apache Mesos)

  • Proficient with one or more of the following technologies/applications: Amazon Web Services, Cloud Foundry, RedHat OpenShift, Apache Mesos, Hadoop and Spark

  • Previous experience, cloud or datacenter, with processes and technologies supporting petabyte-scale data projects

  • Understanding of modern authentication and authorization protocols and how to integrate them into enterprise-scale capabilites hosted in the cloud (e.g. PKI, SAML, JWT, OpenID Connect)

  • Previous experience with application design for, or operation of, PaaS implementations (for example Cloud Foundry, Apache Mesos)

  • Proficient with one or more of the following technologies/applications: Amazon Web Services, Cloud Foundry, RedHat OpenShift, Apache Mesos, Hadoop and Spark

Desired Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Math, or related scientific or technical discipline

  • Knowledge of the NGA Aero Mission and experience with Aero data

  • Knowledge of industry-standard design principles for cloud-based applications (e.g. The 12 Factor App or similar, proven approach)

  • Open-source database technologies compatible with geospatial data extract/transform/load processes (e.g. PostGIS, GeoServer)
