Parsons Corporation Field Project Manager in Staunton, Virginia

Parsons is now hiring a Field Project Manager with a desire to ensure that highways are well-maintained and safe for all travelers. The successful candidate will be managing, administering and coordinating work done by third party contractors for interstate maintenance and operations. He or she will coordinate with contractors and the VDOT Staunton District staff, outside agencies, contract administration and perform contract work evaluation. The Field PM will ensure work performed by contractors meets minimum performance targets as specified within the contract. Willingness to relocate to the Staunton District is expected. We need our Field Project Managers to be versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments that have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills .


Parsons is the Prime Contractor for the Virginia DOT Statewide Maintenance Consulting Services project. Under this contract, Parsons is providing a variety of highway and bridge maintenance services, including providing staff to work under VDOT's direction.

The VDOT Staunton district is changing it's contracted interstate maintenance program in our South project area and the way the services are delivered. As such, we are looking for an individual to fill a project managers position that would oversee the maintenance activities of the program. The project area covers I-64 and I-81 in Augusta, Rockbridge and Alleghany counties.

Below is a position description and some notes on the services that the VDOT program delivers. The duration of the position is uncertain, our intentions are to issue an initial 6 month task order, with the likelihood of extending or reissuing for another 6 months.

As a result of the incident response oversight requirements of this position, it is necessary that the individual live within close proximity to the interstate routes within the project, preferably along or near the Staunton/Lexington I-81 corridor. We are looking forward to filling the position and would like to have them onboard and working by the end of August.

Willingness to relocate to job site is expected.


Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or-related field preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree. Experience in highway maintenance and construction activities and developing contract specifications and engineering estimates.


Proven ability to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations.
