Parsons, is seeking an Associate Scientist with a focus on environmental science and biology to join our team in Syracuse, NY.In this role you will be involved in a variety of field and office tasks across several projects.This position requires excellent communication skills and sharp attention to detail. The successful candidate will be a motivated and results-driven individual with a bias-for-action attitude and strong work ethic.Must be willing to take on new challenges, be adaptable, and able to work effectively within a collaborative and inter-disciplinary team.Willingness to travel to field sites is expected.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with collection and processing of biological (fish and invertebrates) samples as well as surface water, sediments and soil samplesyear-round, sometimes in adverse climate and field conditions.

  • Assist in execution of other field work potentially including sampling of groundwater, soils, and soil vapor, and monitoring of wetlands.

  • Evaluate and analyze data

  • Assist in preparation of reports and other technical documents

  • Communication and documentation of daily field operations and project status to managers/other field team members

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS:

Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental science, environmental engineering or an earth sciences field.

0-3 years of professional experience

Strong knowledge of aquatic resource

Background experience using GIS is desired;

Possess excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills;

Strong organization and time management skills
