Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an intern to join our team! This internship is to aid in restoration projects around Onondaga Lake from May through July 2024. Projects will mostly involve field work associated with planting of wetland vegetation. Work will be part to full time based on field schedule.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Interns will implement restoration project work at the ground level in a safe and efficient manner under the direction of a Field Supervisor.
Native planting, seeding, erosion control installation or any other activities necessary with field restoration projects.
May perform any or all of the following types of assignments in the office or at a field site:
Participates in field activities and special studies. Makes observations, collect samples, performs routine tests, and maintains documentation. Prepares required field and office reports of various activities and findings.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Incumbent must be enrolled in technical curriculum at an accredited college or university and completed at least one year of study. Must have working knowledge of plant communities in and around Onondaga Lake Remediation Projects.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
Experience or interest in native and invasive species plant identification and/ or restoration techniques is a plus.
Must be hard working, physically fit, and able to lift/carry up to 30lbs over short distances on uneven terrain. Task will likely include frequent bending and/or squatting.
Must be willing and able to work outside in variable weather conditions typical of Central New York in late spring/early summer.

Salary Range:
$14.66 - $24.95
