Parsons, is seeking an Environmental Scientist with a focus on aquatic ecology to join our team in Syracuse, NY.In this role you will be involved in a variety of field and office tasks across several projects.This position requires excellent communication skills and sharp attention to detail. The successful candidate will be a motivated and results-driven individual with a bias-for-action attitude and strong work ethic.Must be willing to take on new challenges, be adaptable, and able to work effectively within a collaborative and inter-disciplinary team.Willingness to travel to field sites is expected.


  • Assist in and/or lead collection and processing of fish, invertebrates, surface water, sediments and soil samplesyear-round, sometimes in adverse climate and field conditions.

  • Opportunities will exist for involvement in other sampling programs such as;sampling of groundwater, soils, soil vapor, and monitoring of wetlands.

  • Assist in execution/management of field work including oversight of sample collection and of subcontractors.

  • Evaluate and analyze data

  • Assist in preparation of reports and other technical documents

  • Communication and documentation of daily field operations and project status to managers/other field team members.


M.S. degree in aquatic ecology, environmental science, environmental engineering or an earth sciences field is preferred, or combination of B.S. and relevant experience.

3-5 years of related work experience

Experience with project budgeting and writing scopes of work.

Working knowledge of permitting and regulatory requirements.

Experience with sampling various aquatic media (i.e. surface water, sediment, fish, invertebrates).

Must possess excellent technical writing, verbal communication,organizational and time managementskills.

Proficient in Microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint).

Background experience using GIS is a plus.
