Parsons is now hiring a Principal Geologist for our rapidly expanding Environmentalprojects located in upstate NY area.
Parsons extensive experience in this field combined with your geological experience and engineering techniques will propel your career forward. We need our Geologists at this level to applyexperience and increasing proficiency in the use of geological theories, practices, and company policies. The selected candidate will have performed remedial investigations on large petroleum contaminated properties, former MGP sites, and Superfund sites. In addition to working in the field, you may also assist in preparing proposals and cost estimates and soliciting bids from subcontractors/suppliers.
In this role you will determine methods and solutions for complex geologic problems, selecting the most efficient and economical means to meet established goals and objectives. You will apply advanced geologic and hydrogeologic techniques and analyses and is proficient in the use of current theories and practices. Most assignments involve the use of computer software applications (including spreadsheets, CAD, aquifer test analysis, etc.), as well as computer modeling. May direct and supervise lower-level personnel. Willingness to travel and/or relocate to field sites is expected.
May manage medium-sized site investigation projects or small multi-disciplinary projects or studies.
Ensures that field work is completed in a timely manner.
Prepares proposals and cost estimates for projects, and may schedule project staff as a task or project leader.
Assigns work and reviews work produced to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness. Makes staffing assignments and reassignments as project and company requirements change.
Provides geological, hydrogeological, and hydrochemistry consultations for interdisciplinary studies and analyses.
Prepares specification and work plans for field investigations, pumping tests, sampling, and ground water/soil remediation.
Solicits and evaluates bids from subcontractors for services such as clearing, drilling, surveying and mapping, and sample analysis.
Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
Prepares and delivers technical papers.
May serve as technical consultant in area of geology for management or for the client as appropriate.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
4-year degree in Geology or related field
10-15 years of related work experience
Experience as a task leader
Certification as a professional Geologist is required
Proficiency in various computer software applications typically used geological analyses
Familiarity with related environmental rules and regulations is preferred
Requires a demonstrated proficiency in both written and oral communication skills
Thorough understanding of all environmental rules and regulations
Ability to perform in a lead capacity on a project
