We are adding a Geotechnical Engineer or Civil Engineer with Geotechnical experience to our team to support public and private remediation projects. This is a great opportunity for you to work as a team, with other engineers, and scientists, to provide comprehensive geotechnical services and solutions to our clients for complex contamination issues. Our engineers perform research, analysis, and may work in the office, out in the field at client sites, and in the lab. You can work on projects focused above ground, below ground, around water, in water and help protect the public and the environment!

In this role, you will work on projects, as a team member of larger projects under the close guidance and supervision of a more senior engineer. We expect you to be a creative and innovative thinker, anticipate problems, have a passion for safety and want to preserve the environment. Expect to perform hand calculations and modeling, and analyze data, to determine the best method of remediation for a complex contamination problems. Our projects involve great complexity to solve soil and slope problems, foundation issues, and identifying changes needed to stabilize buildings and other major structures, while performing remediation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Use knowledge of general concepts of relevant geotechnical and civil engineering elements for remediation projects that may include landfills, hazardous waste site remediation and closure. This may involve all stages from investigation to design to remedial action to construction management. Considerations include slope elevation, landside hazards, wetlands challenges, EPA and environmental regulations, organic interferences, grading and utility considerations.

  • Assists team in preparing civil and geotechnical designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports.

  • Preparing standard engineering material quality takeoffs, estimates, surveys and designs

  • Conducts basic hand calculations and modeling

  • May perform field work related to pilot and/or construction related activities.

  • Assists in supporting the civil team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.

  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD designers/drafters working on the project

  • Use of GPS and total station survey equipment

Credentials and Competencies:

  • BS degree in Civil or related engineering discipline.

  • Masters degree in Geotechnical, Geoenvironmental, Civil or environmental engineering – with a basic understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of Geotechnical civil engineering including geotechnical, survey, storm water/drainage design, erosion, sediment control, soil stabilization and grading.

  • EIT required, as this will lead to licensing as a Professional Engineer

  • HAZWOPPER Certification preferred

  • Working knowledge of CAD, PC related Software and Modeling tools

  • Strong intuitive nature and self-motivated to seek out creative solutions that satisfy the client, regulatory agencies and industry ethics and standards.

  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

  • 6 months to 5 years of experience.

  • Co-op/Internship experience preferred in similar role
