Job Description:

Parsons is a leader in the design and construction of rail and transit systems, committed to delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance transportation infrastructure. Our full-service team utilizes advanced 3D modeling to provide comprehensive design, construction, and technology integration for clients across North America.

Parsons is seeking an experienced architectural manager to join our multi-disciplinary Rail and Transit division as a Architectural Lead - Tra nsit Facilities . The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in architectural design as well as project management and leadership experience for large-scale transit projects including subway and LRT stations, transit maintenance facilities, transit centres, bus terminals/ depots, and airports . This role involves overseeing design processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and collaborating with clients and stakeholders to bring projects to fruition. This role is available at our Greater Toronto Area, Burnaby or Calgary offices!

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Oversee all phases of transit facility projects, managing multi-disciplinary teams to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery. Develop project schedules and manage resources.

  • Architectural Expertise: Continuously develop knowledge in architectural design for transit facility projects from concept through to completion, while providing technical direction to staff. Lead the preparation of technical reports, studies, contract documentation including drawings and specifications and cost estimates.

  • Client Relations: Act as the primary contact for clients as project manager or architectural lead for transit facility projects, maintaining relationships and addressing feedback. Conduct presentations to communicate project progress.

  • Documentation and Compliance: Lead the preparation of technical reports, studies, contract documentation including drawings and specifications and cost estimates and ensure designs meet client and regulatory standards.

  • Collaboration: Work with engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and align objectives across departments. Encourage innovative design solutions that enhance functionality and aesthetics.

  • Business Development: Identify new opportunities and assist in proposal development while contributing to the leadership of the Rail and Transit group.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and implement best practices in architectural design.

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and development support to junior staff through coaching and training.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture (or equivalent) and at least 15 years of related experience, including supervisory roles.

  • Proven ability to perform in a managerial capacity.

  • Possess strong critical thinking skills, mentoring abilities, and excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and graphic).

  • Experience in the preparation of technical memos, reports and contract documentation (drawings, specs, cost estimates).

  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to analyze and develop innovative solutions.

  • Experience with managing and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on complex transit projects from prelim/feasibility through to detailed design and construction.

  • Experienced with Design-Build and alternative project delivery models.

  • Proven leadership and business development capabilities with experience responding to proposals.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, Google Suite and knowledge of current design software for use in architectural design assignments (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).

  • Ability to resolve technical issues, and manage internal budgets and staffing.

  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, sustainable design practices, CPTED principles, security systems, wayfinding and life safety best practices specifically for transit facilities.
