Parsons is looking for an experienced Senior Bridge Inspector with proven experience as Senior Structural Engineer or Technician / Bridge Inspector who have a great attention to detail to join our ever growing Bridges and Tunnels team of professionals and technical experts in Western Canada. The Bridge and Tunnels team is involved in the pursuit and delivery of major bridge and structure rehabilitation and design projects throughout Western Canada.

Location: Western Canadian Road, Rail, and Pedestrian Bridges and Culverts
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and performing detailed inspections on bridge superstructures, substructures, decks, barriers, and approaches, embankments and/or culverts for cracks, collision damage, corrosion, local failures, fatigue, delamination, coating condition, general condition, maintenance items, etc. and also preparing client deliverables for the work (i.e. final inspection reports). Reports consist of prioritized repair recommendations, as well as cost estimates, with the potential for detailed design drawings and specifications, and tender documents. You will also assist in developing re-construction strategies, provide construction site services for rehabilitation projects, and be able to assist with managing the inspection and design projects and also contract administration. Ability to assist with proposals to win bridge inspection work would also be part of the job.
Climb bridges to thoroughly inspect their components
Examine level, alignment, and elevation of structures
Use instruments and tools for surveying, metering, and testing equipment during inspection
Keep daily records and photos of information during inspections
Approve strategies that meet bridge codes and standards
Uses hammer sounding, chain dragging, and other non-destructive techniques to perform the work
Works with other Parsons' managers and project engineers to win projects and then to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of the bridge inspection project. Ensures that the project meets or exceeds goals established in these plans. Acts as the Company representative with the client and selected subconsultants during the program execution. Leads junior and intermediate engineers and technicians and subconsultants to complete the work.
Bachelors of Applied Science, specializing in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Structural Engineering courses or
P.Eng., EIT, or CET registration or equivalent
5-10 years of experience in the bridge engineering profession is preferred.
Able to work long hours in remote outside environments
Willing to travel for 1-3 weeks at a time for short-term bridge inspections across Western Canada
Not afraid of heights or confined spaces
Knowledge of industry bridge inspection standards and guidelines used in Western Canada is preferred.
Knowledge of snooper vehicle, flagging, and other non-destructive technique subconsultants in Western Canada would be beneficial.
Position would benefit from already established working relationships with bridge owner clients in Alberta and knowledge of bridge owner client processes, standards, guides, specifications, tender documents, etc.
Underwater inspection knowledge / skills are considered a bonus
