Resident Engineer (Marine Works)

Abu Dhabi

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Resident Engineer - Marine to join our team! In this role you will get to manage a team of experienced professionals on a construction supervision project delivering heavy marine works on a high profile project in Abu Dhabi, UAE .

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Manages discipline staffing and staffing assignment schedules on each project.

  • Assigned to a Construction Supervision team responsible for the installation of marine edges, candidate will be responsible for managing all engineering and design review efforts for all disciplines required for the project.

  • Monitors the quality and progress of the discipline on each project, manages the quality assurance staff directives, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied.

  • Works closely with the Senior Resident Marine Engineer and Project Director to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.

  • Establishes standards and procedures manuals for the discipline. Recommends improvements to department procedures.

  • Recruits, interviews, and evaluates prospective employees as well as assist hiring, offers personnel development, and conducts performance evaluations, counsels employees, takes corrective actions (as required), and approves terminations.

  • Ensures that new employees receive orientation on company policies and procedures.

  • Supports pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant.

  • Actively participates in and promotes the Quality Improvement Program.

  • May head a committee within the discipline, striving to motivate and educate the assigned personnel.

  • Independently develops methods and solutions for construction / engineering problems; selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the project objectives.

  • Completes a wide variety of difficult construction / engineering assignments, applying construction / engineering techniques and analysis within one discipline.

  • The Engineer at this level is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of most construction / engineering theories and practices.

  • Some assignments involve CAE/CAD (computer aided engineering/computer aided design) applications.

  • Travel or relocation to supplier, client, or construction site locations may be required.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required.

  • BSc in Civil or Marine Engineering (or related field) with +15 years of related work experience.

  • Must have experience in Civil Engineering for marine applications ie. Understanding means and methods of construction for quay walls, soil improvement, piling types, excavation and compaction, bridges, tunnels, duct banks, batch plants, etc.

  • Must have MENA experience specifically in GCC.

  • Must have expert communication skills in English (reading, writing and speaking)

  • MSc Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar or an MBA

  • Ability to manage multiple work fronts with multiple field teams at the same time

  • Ability to manage in a highly demanding and stressful environment for a high profile client

  • Be a team player who leads by example, and adds a level of optimism to extreme engineering challenges
