In this role, you will perform a variety of analysis and design functions for municipal, transportation and water related infrastructure projects that include roads and existing roadway corridor upgrades with AAA bicycle facilities, multi-use paths and trails; water supply and distribution including pumping stations; sanitary collection and treatment; and stormwater/drainage including stormwater management plan and flood protection works; either in urban or rural areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Works with a team to develop the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, confirming the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, and reporting the work status.

  • Will perform design of road systems on Municipal roads and highways including the integration of cycling, and pedestrian facilities.

  • Provide design of water related infrastructure including watermain, sanitary sewers, stormdrains system and pumping stations from conceptual to detailed design.

  • Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.

  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required including construction inspection of the works. May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.

  • May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate-size project.

  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

  • Some related work experience and/or internships preferred

  • In addition, an Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate is preferred

  • Requires basic process engineering knowledge, as well as a working knowledge of CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering

  • Experience with construction inspection will be seen as an asset.
