Job Description:
Ready to put your civil engineer expertise to work on marquee projects that will change the fabric of our communities? Would you enjoy being involved on a wide variety of engineering tasks on large scale, complex projects? Parsons is now hiring a Senior or Intermediate Municipal Civil Engineer for our rapidly expanding portfolio of municipal projects. This position will be located in Burnaby, BC. As a Senior/Intermediate Municipal Civil Engineer, you will lead the design in various municipal infrastructure multi-disciplinary projects from conception through to completion. As a licensed professional with EGBC, you will be responsible to design and authenticate the civil design, ensuring that all project deliverables are designed and executed according to relevant standards and regulations, while meeting budgetary and timeline constraints. Experience working on municipal infrastructure design and construction projects is essential for this position.
Responsibilities:
Be the civil Professional of Record in delivering municipal roads and linear infrastructure design works including water, sanitary, and storm systems, drainage and grading. Prepare, lead, and/or review the development of technical solutions of engineering designs from conceptual to detailed design phases and provide engineering design support during construction, while meeting budgetary and timeline constraints. This includes:
Prepare or directly supervise the preparation of authenticated deliverables including calculations, design criteria, drawings, specifications and tender documents based on MMCD and CCDC, technical letters and memorandums, technical reports, AACE International and ACEC-BC construction cost estimates, bid evaluations and recommendations,
Prepare (or directly supervise the preparation of) the CAD model using Civil 3D based on the design and calculation output.
Identify utility conflicts and utility relocation. Coordinate with 3rd party utilities and external agencies as required by the project work.
Coordinate project design with other disciplines such as surveyors, geotechnical, electrical, arboricultural, landscape, environmental and others as required.
Provide construction oversight such as engineering field reviews and field review reports, respond to contractor RFIs, provide site instructions during construction.
Interprets and ensures conformance to applicable legislation, standards, and codes, as well as company policies and procedures, and quality requirements.
Support project managers with controlling project budgets and schedules, invoicing, coordinating with sub-consultants and contractors, meeting with clients to support successful delivery of the projects.
Prepare proposals including work plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
Collaborate with peers, subconsultants and contractors to create a productive team environment.
Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and technologists
Requirements :
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with 10+ years of design experience working in Lower Mainland municipal projects. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Extensive technical expertise and demonstrated working knowledge and experience with civil engineering principles and civil design of municipal servicing infrastructure, including municipal roads, water, sanitary, and storm systems, drainage and grading.
Expert working knowledge of contract documentation including MMCD and CCDC.
Working knowledge of green rain infrastructure
Excellent knowledge of industry practices and regulations. Ability to interpret, apply, and advise others on engineering guidelines such as technical manuals, codes and regulations.
Proficient in working with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Extensive technical expertise in caring out engineering field reviews and responding to RFIs, providing site instructions during construction.
Comprehensive knowledge of project management principles
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to exercise diplomacy and tact
Results driven, while respecting the importance of collaboration and teamwork
Ability to supervise and coach others. Ability to mentor the development of junior engineers and technical staff.
Commitment to continuous learning and skills improvement
Valid BC Class V Driver's License

Salary Range:
$74,800 - $139,000
