Parsons has been involved in improving transportation infrastructure in Canada since 1964. With a portfolio of more than 4,500 crossings around the world, we’ve delivered landmark bridges that carry pedestrians, roads, railways, and pipelines. We are looking for a strong Intermediate Bridge Design Engineer to join our team of experts, as we expand our team in Manitoba, Canada. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a broad variety of concrete and steel bridges and related structures such as Suspension Bridges, Cable-Stayed, Arch, Truss, Cantilever, Beam, Viaduct, and Girder bridges. You would be supporting the Bridge and structures design projects throughout Western Canada. This position requires a solid track record of executing bridge design and design-build projects along with familiarity Ministry of Transportation and/or Municipal standards and project delivery
Responsibilities:
Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
Provides support for other engineering activities as required.
May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
May be assigned to a project or organizational team, or as a lead engineer for a specific discipline on a small to intermediate size project.
Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering (or related field) and 3-5+ years of related work experience; Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
Engineer in-Training (EIT) Certificate may be required; P.Eng. is preferred.
Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with structural engineering is required
Good working knowledge of MS Office, industry standard bridge design and analysis software, and AutoCAD or MicroStation
Good leadership and emotional intelligence skills
Natural curiosity about structural behavior and technical details
Strong organizational and planning skills
Thirst for knowledge
Adaptable to change
Effective communicator
Collaborative
Knowledge of clients in Manitoba would be an asset
Strong technical writer
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
